How to use
Underarm Crutch:
Crutches axillary support: 1.5-2 finger width from under the armpit (about 5cm)
Grip height: the level of the wrist when the arms are naturally drooping
Walking Underarm Crutch:
1. Support the
Underarm Crutch in front of both sides of your feet to keep your body balanced;
2. The tops of the two Underarm Crutch should be pressed on the ribs on both sides as much as possible. Don't put your armpits directly on the
Underarm Crutch. Straighten your elbows. Use your hands to support your weight. Use your hands instead of your armpits.
3. Both Underarm Crutch move forward at the same time
4. Move the affected limb forward on the same plane between the
Underarm Crutch
5. Swing the normal leg forward again and place it in front of the
Underarm Crutch (the Underarm Crutch --- the affected limb --- the normal leg)
Up and down steps or stairs:
1. If the steps or stairs have handrails, try to use the handrails. Put the two Underarm Crutch together and hold it with the hand away from the handrail of the stairs; hold the handrail with the other hand and keep your body as close to the handrail as possible;
2. If there is no handrail on the stairs: hold a cane in each hand, as when walking;
3. The essentials of going up and down the stairs: good legs go up first, bad legs go down first.
Stand up:
1. Please make sure that the chair or bed is stable and firm;
2. Support your normal legs on the ground and move your body forward to the edge of the chair or bed;
3. When bringing the Underarm Crutch together, hold the handle of the
Underarm Crutch with the hand on the side of the affected leg, and hold the arm of the chair or the edge of the bed with the hand on the healthy side;
4.Support with both hands together, and at the same time stand up with your normal legs and keep your feet steady.
sit down:
1. Slowly retreat the body until the leg on the normal side touches the edge of the chair or bed;
2. Keep your weight on your normal legs, and close the Underarm Crutch together;
3. Hold the handle of the
Underarm Crutch with the hand on the side of the affected leg, place the hand on the uninvolved side on the chair or the edge of the bed, then bend the uninvolved knee and sit down slowly;
4. Sit down slowly and always keep your
Underarm Crutch next to the chair.
Notice:
1. No weight bearing: that is, the affected leg is not stressed, keep your affected leg off the ground;
2. Light weight: you can use the soles of your feet to touch the ground to maintain balance;
3. Partial weight-bearing: part of the body weight can be shared on the affected leg, generally refers to 1/3~1/2 of the body weight;
4. Tolerable weight-bearing: load most of the weight or even all the weight to the affected foot, as long as you can bear it;
5. Full weight bearing: Full weight bearing, as long as there is no pain.
